Dip And Strip Services

We have a range of solutions for all your paint/varnish removal needs on most surfaces

Our Dip And Strip Process

There are two types of caustic paint stripping tanks, Hot or Cold. Cold caustic tanks are for the removal of paint on metal, and any none porous products. Metal is a none-absorbent material, so it doesn't’t matter how long it is immersed in a hot or cold caustic solution, it will not damage the metal.

Please note: Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys cannot be dipped into a caustic solution, hot or cold, as it will damage it.

With wood however, which is absorbent, it’s different, if it was left in a caustic solution for too long, which it would have to be in a cold caustic tank, it would soak deeper into the wood and greatly increase the time it takes to dry out and neutralizing solutions would have to be used to neutralize the caustic solution, and most dip and strip companies will add a charge for neutralizing the caustic solution that has soaked into the wood.

Here at Dip And Strip Grimsby we only use a hot caustic tank, because a hot caustic solution reacts quicker with the paint, which greatly accelerates the paint stripping process, especially with wood. This way we can ensure that the solution does not have time to soak deep into the wood and delay the drying process.

After the item has been dipped, it then goes through our power washing process, which helps to to strip off all the paint/varnish, plus it helps to neutralize the caustic solution. Because the hot caustic solution reacts so quickly with the paint/varnish, the caustic solution does not have time to soak into the wood, so the caustic solution is neutralized during the power washing process.
The item will then go through the drying process, Then finished to our customers preference.

All our Dip And Strip Services are carried out by professional tradesmen who have 30+ years of experience in the removal of paint/varnish and other coatings. We will Dip And Strip a range of different surfaces and materials.

Please note that items like Chipboard, MDF, veneer, Modern light weight Hollow doors with cardboard fillers etc.. cannot go through our dip and strip process.
